There is no better time to dine in the Finger Lakes.  Someone said, we are the tree the Big Apple grows on.  A plethora of fresh vegetables, meats and dairy are used during this incredibly fresh and bountiful time.  Farm-to-table refers to a movement where food is produced locally and delivered to you, in some cases, the very same day.  Our chef works with producers from across the street and around the region.  Together with the freshness of the season and his very creative culinary skills, plus the wine from this terroir, this is a wine dinner not to miss.  Ever so popular, we have scheduled two dates: September 20th and October 18th.  This five-course dinner will be paired beautifully with premium wines from Knapp Winery, Zugibe Vineyards and Glenora Wine Cellars.  Please purchase your tickets online to reserve your spot.

Enjoy a unique experience in Finger Lakes Wine Country. Guests will be welcomed by Fox Run’s Tasting Room Manager, Kyle Anne Pallischeck, for a personalized experience around the Fox Run Vineyards estate.

The event begins with a 45 minute walking tour of the vineyards and winery overlooking Seneca Lake, during which we will discuss the history of Fox Run Vineyards and winemaking in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.

Following the tour, a light lunch will be served in the historic barrel room featuring a selection of local cheeses, charcuterie, greens and fresh baked bread. (A gluten-free option is available.)

Lunch is accompanied by a flight of seven (7) Fox Run wines including a dessert wine served with something sweet.

Each guest will receive a souvenir Fox Run logo glass. Reservations must be made one week-in advance. There is a maximum of 40 seats available. The cost is $35 per person + tax.

16th Annual Autumn Festival of Ales

Saturday. October 4th, 2014

This craft beer festival features over 40 craft beers, live entertainment and a chili cook-off to benefit Mercy Flight. Over 3,000 beer lovers will travel to Honeoye Falls to sample craft beer brewed exclusively by CB Craft Brewers. Beers include CB’s year round brands and over 30 custom beers brewed for restaurants and bars throughout WNY. Festival tents will be set-up at the Honeoye Falls Fireman’s Field located at 321 Monroe Street in Honeoye Falls, NY. Festival hours are 1pm-5pm. The event will also feature live music, hand-rolled Dominican Cigars by Santiago Cigar Factory and local food vendors. Tickets sales will begin late summer 2014.

Immerse yourself in the bounty the Finger Lakes. On this one-of-a-kind culinary wine tour, you will create a Finger Lakes meal from the ground up. Our day unfolds at Silver Queen Farm. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the farmer, who will take you into his fields to harvest the day’s bounty for your cooking class. Upon your return, regional chef Samantha Buyskes will be ready to begin the class. Part hands on, part demonstration class, you will learn and discover the beauty and richness of making a meal with ingredients grown from the farm. With your assistance, Chef Samantha will prepare and demonstrate the creation of a three-course lunch featuring the farm’s ingredients and wines made at local Silver Thread Vineyards. Enjoy the flavors of the Finger Lakes as you learn about preparation and cooking methods, shopping tips, and the magic behind the wonderful regional food of our area. Each guest receives the recipes from the meal, and has the opportunity to purchase the farm-fresh ingredients to bring a bit of Finger Lakes freshness home with you. After the class, we make our way to Silver Thread Vineyards. Here you will meet Shannon or Paul Brock, the winery’s owners and winemakers. They will share with you a vineyard tour and wine cellar experience that describes what goes into making their fabulous award-winning wines. You will then enjoy a wine tasting paired with Finger Lakes cheese and other locally sourced products. Afterwards, you will of course have the opportunity to purchase the wine featured during your cooking class to complete your home menu. A Buck’s Tale – A German Tradition

“A Buck’s Tale” is based on a German tradition in the “Pfaltz” region in Southwest Germany that began in the Middle Ages and has turned into a celebration in the modern day. The story is about how two German towns found peace through the gift of a goat buck. Lively Run owner, Susanne Messmer, is native to the area and is bringing this fun celebration to the Finger Lakes. Please read our blog to find out more information about “A Buck’s Tale.” The event is celebrating the beginning of our herd’s breeding season and will focus on Lively Run’s goat buck, Austin. We will tell the story of “A Buck’s Tale,” and celebrate the German way – with local beer, live music, and delicious German food. The Finger Lakes wine making story spans over 150 years and is in the midst of a new exciting chapter. Join us for a special monthly wine tasting series where you will discover the sense of place associated with a sampling of Finger Lakes wine compared with similar varietals and styles from all around the world. Those who do will walk away with a greater appreciation of the wines of our special region, as well as other classic winemaking regions around the globe. The event is hosted by by Laura Winter Falk owner of Experience! The Finger Lakes. Laura holds a doctorate in nutrition, is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers, and is known for her fun and engaging presentations on food and wine. Finger Lakes Cheese Trail popular Fall Open House is coming up on Columbus Day Weekend. The one-day Fall Open House is slated for Saturday October 11, from.10:00am-5:00pm both days. Twelve of the 13 Trail members will be participating, with many opening up their farms to cheese lovers that Saturday. There will be many new events and activities at the individual farms for the Open House, and trail-wide visitors are encouraged to play Cheese Trail Bingo as they visit the farms for a chance to win a holiday cheeseboard.

Halloween in Downtown

Join in the Halloween Parade! The parade meets at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center at 3:45pm and parades to the Ithaca Commons while trick or treating at local businesses. There will be free music, hot cider, and chili inside Center Ithaca. The Downtown Ithaca Alliance also offers free time in the bounce house and free face painting for trick or treaters.

Deck the Halls Weekend ~ November & December 2014

Two separate weekends, November 21-23 or December 5-7, 2014 – Go to your assigned starting winery and begin a weekend of fun and festivities while sampling holiday wines and food tastings. The wineries are decorated for the holiday season. Over the two day weekend event, visit the participating wineries, receive a recipe book and collect ornaments to decorate your handmade grapevine wreath. The Finger Lakes wine making story spans over 150 years and is in the midst of a new exciting chapter. Join us for a special monthly wine tasting series where you will discover the sense of place associated with a sampling of Finger Lakes wine compared with similar varietals and styles from all around the world. Those who do will walk away with a greater appreciation of the wines of our special region, as well as other classic winemaking regions around the globe. The event is hosted by by Laura Winter Falk owner of Experience! The Finger Lakes. Laura holds a doctorate in nutrition, is a member of the Guild of Sommeliers, and is known for her fun and engaging presentations on food and wine. Thanksgiving Weekend Hidden Treasures of the Cayuga East Wine and Lunch Tour

On this tour, your experience will begin at King Ferry Winery, where you will enjoy a winery tour and learn about the wine making process. This is followed by a tasting of their wines paired with local cheese made right next door. Next, enjoy a fantastic three course lunch at Pumpkin Hill Bistro prepared from locally sourced ingredients. At Long Point Winery, you will do a private vertical barrel tasting of four vintages of the Cabernet Sauvignon. This is followed with a select tasting of their other wines, paired with local chocolate. Our final stop on the tour, Bet the Farm Winery and Gourmet Market, you will enjoy a tasting of their hand-crafted wines paired with New York products featured at their market. Tour will depart from the Holiday Inn in Downtown Ithaca (Hotel Ithaca) at 11:15 am Cost: $120 per person. This price includes the transportation, tasting fees, food/wine pairings, and lunch.

Reindeer Run
